  • GEOS WLC  is located in the heart of the city’s popular café district “the Courtenay Quarter”
  • Bus stop 1 min. walk from school building

Students
  • GEOS WLC can cater for a maximum of 90 students
  • Normally, our student numbers are around 40 – 60.

  • We have students from Japan, Korea, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Brazil, Colombia, China, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Argentina, Taiwan, Hungary, Chile, Poland, Russia and Tahiti.

Course Structure
  • General English Full-time, IELTS, HSP   = 23 hours per week
  • General English Part-time = 15 hours per week
School Hours
  • General English Full-time = Monday-Thursday 9.00 am - 3.15 pm; Friday 9.00-12.15 pm (includes lunch break of 1 hour per day)
  • General English Part-time = Monday-Friday, 9.00 am - 12.15 pm (includes 1 break for 15 mins)
Levels
  • 6 levels of English:  Beginner to Advanced
Class Size
  • Maximum 15 per class. Class sizes vary depending on the course and the level.
  • Average number of students per class: 6
First Day at GEOS WLC
  • Welcome & Orientation (9:00AM – 12:15PM)
  • Level testing including written examination and interview.
  • Introduction to Counsellors.
  • College information; map of Wellington; information on Wellington public transport/ Bus passes; medical insurance for student visa holders; how to open a bank account; location of post office, banks & shops; information about living with a New Zealand host family & living in Wellington; information on weekend sightseeing trips and Tour bookings; important telephone numbers all given in Orientation Pack.

Extra after-school programme

  • Social activity organised for every Friday afternoon

Weekend Activities

  • Large selection of weekend activities offered – every weekend. For example:
  • Emu farm visit, Tour of Wine Country, Karori Wildlife Sanctuary, Scuba diving, Horseriding, Weekend trips to ski-fields, Boat trip to Marlborough Sounds
Public Transport Costs
  • A weekly bus pass costs between $10 to $25, depending on the distance travelled.
Cost of Living
  • Lunch costs around $5 - $9 per day
