Benefits of Education directories and guides

Education directories and guides link educational institutions with teachers, parents and students to find the the right schools, universities, tafes and colleges, and further educational course outlets for your personal requirements. They can be used for those relocating intrastate, interstate, or overseas. They are very useful tools for accessing the necessary information on the many educational institutions on offer.
There are many ways to use the directory, using different criteria to search for educational institutions. You can enter the town, suburb or postcode, or enter the town or suburb name and then compare schools in the area of choice
You can also combine schools, colleges, TAFE, and universities in the area you require (schools strathfield, colleges campbelltown, christian schools melbourne, universities nsw, etc). Or you can search the directory, if you know the name of school or college you require. You can also search the specific classifications and then specify the state you wish to visit.
Education directories let you find your new school/educational facility by entering the criteria that is important to you. Whether you are looking for primary, secondary (high) or a special school, music, arts, sports, a government or non-government, private, independent, religious or secular affiliation, boys, girls or co-educational, vocational training courses, colleges, TAFEs, universities, etc... you will be able to ascertain whether the right school/educational facility for your family is close to your home by typing in the relevant key words for your specific search.

Correspondence and Distance Education guides

Distance education publications provide useful information about universities and courses, as well as comparative evaluations on the relative merit of universities and the courses they provide. They can also provide information about the changes to HECS as a result of the higher education reforms, as well as contact details for officers and departments.
Correspondence guides are ideal for school leavers, careers advisers, parents, prospective tertiary students, academics and anyone wanting to make the right choice of course & college for their career path. The handy A-Z subject headings instantly guide users to the right course information. Search for programs in your region or in your area of interest. You can see what programs are available and can request information from the schools to help you make your decision on which to go with.
The sheer number of distance learning and online degrees available is enormous and is growing daily. Similarly the number of schools and institutions that offer learning online is also expanding rapidly. It's important to be able to pursue your academic aims with a school whose quality you can be assured of and whose academic credentials are impeccable. This is the place to find universities you have always aspired to!

Australian Universities
Studying online through distance learning Australia is an excellent way to bring study direct to your home. This makes it possible to adjust your study and learning schedule to fit your individual requirements, allowing a high degree of flexibility for whatever academic program you decide to pursuue.
Distance Learing in Australia covers most academic areas, ranging from hobby courses, to certificates and diplomas, right up to postgraduate work including MBA online and DBA and other postgraduate studies.
There are a variety of ways that students are able to complete their studies through distance learning. The main feature of these is that in general students are not required to be physically present in the classroom, and this gives them the freedom to study where and when they want. A small minority of programs regarded as being delivered in the distance learning mode still require some face to face contact, but this is mainly at the higher tertiary level to ensure certain skills and knowledge is being communicated and the enhance the learning experience.
Over the years there have been various approaches to this type of study, including the use of written material, videos, audiotapes, and CD-ROMs. More recently there has been a shift to the use of email and the Internet, and now many distance programs are also called 'study online' because of this primary method of communication.
This guide is being developed to bring you the best of Australia's Distance Learing programs, not just those offered through the universities, but all programs that students of all levels, experience and requirements may find useful.

Online Distance Education Guide
Useful online distance education guide. I am pretty sure you've read a lot about online education. But I need to stress that online education, contrary to what you've come across out there is really not for everyone. Its not for a certain group of people. Are you one of them? Check out the list.
People that are not self-motivated, People that are not determined, Lazy people, People that can't manage time. With an online education, you are the one that will do the work all alone. There is no teacher running after you to do your assignments, finish up a course on time and so on. You must be someone that can motivate himself or herself to do the work without supervision. Hence, if you're not self motivated, I urge you to discard online education.
If you discover that you're one of this group of people, then I urge you to consider this advice. Its either you give up your quest for online education or change your present way of life. The latter is more preferable. Why? Online education is good for you.

The Good Universities Guide
The Good Uni Guide is the only comprehensive and independent information source about tertiary education pathways, including postgraduate courses like the MBA, and career options in Australia. If you are choosing an education course or career pathway, you have come to the right place. When you are thinking about how you will fit postgraduate study in to an already busy life, it is a good idea to consider distance or online education.
Twenty years ago, this option would not have been available. However, over the years, ‘traditional’ modes of study have increasingly had to compete with distance and, more recently, online modes, for postgraduate students. Distance education is not just a good option for those who live far away, but it is especially useful for time-poor postgraduates who are juggling a range of commitments.

Learning Materials at a Distance • Guides for Lecturers • UK Centre for Materials Education
This guide explores learning materials at a distance, it discusses the requirements, definitions, essential elements and other issues in distance education.
More and more students are finding themselves learning 'at a distance', even in institutions that are ostensibly single-mode face-to-face (f2f) teaching establishments. So, whether or not we see ourselves as engaged in the business of distance education, all academics need to have a basic understanding of the requirements of distance learners and some idea of how best to support them while they attempt to learn.
This guide is a distillation of the essential elements of distance education and a succinct guide to how to produce effective distance learning materials. It is not a course in developing full-blown distance learning courses. But the underlying rules, tips and tricks are precisely those that go in to the best examples of such courses. Many of them will also benefit f2f learners if applied with imagination.

Your Career Guide - New Zealand
Okay, I've decided I want to study, but it is totally confusing having so many places offering so many courses. So how do I choose between institutions? Some of your choice is affected by your subject area, eg architecture is taught at four institutions, law at five universities, medicine at two universities. Other subjects are taught throughout New Zealand, so how far from home do you want to go? You also need to consider how you learn best; small groups, independent study, practical examples or theoretical discussion...
Like the idea of a strong emphasis on research and analysis? Keen to gain exposure to new philosophies and life styles? Want to be in the driver’s seat without teachers on your back about assignments? Keen for varied postgraduate opportunities? Then uni will suit you well. After a practical approach in a campus environment? Want quite regular contact from lecturers? Opportunities to bridge into study or staircase from diploma to degree level? An institute of technology may be more your style.
