Some people say Christchurch is the most ‘English’ of New Zealand’s cities. Known as ‘The Garden City’ it has won international renown for it’s expansive parks and beautiful public gardens. Christchurch is also the gateway to the pristine South Island -there’s excitement waiting within an hour or two in any direction ... to the east the sheltered bays, sandy beaches, bush clad valleys and the rocky coastline of Banks Peninsula, along with wineries and the French settlers’ village of Akaroa. To the west, past fertile plains and braided rivers, are forested foothills and lakes, leading to the highest mountains in Australasia, the Southern Alps. Skiing, fishing, whitewater rafting or kayaking, jet boating, horse riding, golf ... there’s always something to do, see or try.

THE SCHOOL – GEOS AUCKLAND LANGUAGE CENTRE
The GEOS ALC, established in 1984, is one of the longest established private English Language Training Establishments in New Zealand. It is NZ Government accredited (NZQA) to teach English to overseas students.
GEOS ALC is also a University of Cambridge Registered Teacher Training Centre. The courses, teachers, facilities and resources are re-accredited annually by Cambridge and by NZQA to ensure an on-going high standard of quality and excellence.
GEOS ALC is a member English New Zealand (ENZ), an organisation dedicated to offering quality education and maintaining ethical standards of practice in the industry. The college is located in the centre of Auckland City, next to a park and a church. It is close to inner-city conveniences such as banks, shops, post office, bus stations, restaurants and cafes, while at the same time, located away from busy traffic noise.

Go windsurfing, swimming or simply relax with a book in the sun at Auckland’s Beach campus. Live in the friendly multicultural town during the day and if you feel like it, party across the bridge in Auckland City at night!
You can reach almost everything in Takapuna on foot in two minutes; including banks, neat shops, fantastic gyms, the library, cinemas, and the world-class North Shore Events Centre.
The locals are outdoor people, with over fifty percent participating in some water or land-based recreation. If you like beach walking, Takapuna Beach is perfectly situated on New Zealand’s longest unbroken coastline!

New Zealand’s capital city is famous for its strong arts culture and intimate city atmosphere. Located on a picturesque harbour, surrounded by dramatic hills, Wellington is home to New Zealand’s national museum, Te Papa, along with over 50 other museums and galleries.
You can explore the centre of the city simply by walking: at just two kilometres across, the vibrancy and excitement of the city’s cool cafes, elegant department stores, designer boutiques and local arts and craft markets are all within easy reach.
There are lots of outdoor attractions nearby and Wellington’s central location makes it the ideal starting point to see the rest of New Zealand.

The Christchurch College of English is one of the most modern English language colleges in New Zealand. Courses are held in specially designed premises and our first class facilities include a language laboratory, self-study centre, and computer room with access to free email. Although the Christchurch College of English is a private owner-operated school it is located on the campus of its academic partner the University of Canterbury. You will have access to the university student facilities such as the university library, cafeteria and sports facilities. Students studying for 12 weeks or more can join the university Students' Association. Students wishing to continue on to university degree study can apply to transfer into the University of Canterbury EAP and Foundation or degree courses without external examinations such as IELTS.
